Treija (pronounced like “Player”) is the artist name for Ricki Angel-Madawho, company director of the UK based artist, music production, songwriting and record label: Latvian Spice Productions Ltd.
So, I’m actually writing this to you from the artist lounge on the beach in Cannes at 5am on the second (hectic) day of MIDEM 2019.
What an exciting day in Cannes. I woke up a bit late and completly missed an industry talk by ASCAP i so was looking forward to. But there was a reason i woke up late (!), and i certainly made up for it.
Met some fantastic songwriters and artists, and it’s been a bit of a blur, literally.
I had Blur's Song 2 in my head for the rest of the day, after none other than Dave Rowntree, drummer from indie BritPop band Blur popped in. Along with Sandie Shaw (of Eurovision 'Pupper On A String' fame).
Watching some of the live acts at the amazing specatualr stage (well, two stages) drinking cocktails on the beach at 1:am.. absolutely amazing.
As the early hours of the morning kicked in, having done with all the serious business networking, it was time to let our hair down and get absolutely rat-arse shit faced !
Other interesting highlights were:
• Meeting Mary Megan Peer – Deputy CEO of Peer Music Worldwide.
• Hung-Out with Caroline Simionescu-Marin – A&R Manager, XL Recordings (Stormzy, SKepta, M.I.A, Dizee Rascal)
• Meeting Dave Rowntree from Blur and discussing Music/Entertainment Law
• Had an in-depth discussion about potential writing sessions with Eivind BrydØy from Norway’s ‘Artist Vision’ publishers.
